Celebrating Eagle Wing

We are delighted to be partnering with Discover Groomsport for a weekend of Eagle Wing Celebrations on 5th– 7th September.

There will be lots of events in the village throughout the weekend as we celebrate the first attempt by Ulster Scots to emigrate to the American colonies on the Eagle Wing.

Saturday 6th at 11am Introduction to Ulster Scots language and culture – talk by Dayne Jost, Ulster Scots Community Network.

Saturday 6th 2-3pm Line Dancing with Gillian Quinn, come and join in the fun!

Saturday 6th 3.15-4.15pm   Scottish Country Dancing – No experience needed, caller Patrick Brunskill will guide you.

Sunday 7th 2.30pm Open Air Seafarers’ Service at Cockle Row. Conducted by clergy from all our village churches with music by Cottown Pipe Band. (The service will take place in Groomsport Presbyterian Church if the weather is inclement).
