We are delighted to once again be partnering with Discover Groomsport for a weekend of Eagle Wing Celebrations on 4th– 6th September.
There will be lots of events in the village throughout the weekend as we celebrate the first attempt by Ulster Scots to emigrate to the American colonies on the Eagle Wing.
Events taking place in our church halls will be –
Saturday 5th from 10am Followed By Ulster Scots Diaspora when Dr Charles Neville of the Ulster Scots Network will discuss Ulster-Scots emigration and its influences in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Saturday 5th 12noon- 1.00pm Scottish Country Dancing – No experience needed, caller Patrick Brunskill will guide you through all the dances!
Saturday 5th 3-4.30pm Ceramics Workshop with local artist, Kim Ladd. You can create your own Eagle Wing themed ceramic decoration. Please note this is a ticketed event, (cost £15) and items will be fired and ready for collection a week later.
Sunday 6th 2.30pm Open Air Seafarers’ Service at Cockle Row. Conducted by clergy from all our village churches with music by Cottown Pipe Band. (The service will take place in Groomsport Presbyterian Church if the weather is inclement).
