ReStore is Habitat for Humanity’s social enterprise which directly tackles poverty in Ireland. Critical to breaking the cycle of poverty is housing.
Habitat ReStore helps low-income families improve their homes at affordable prices. They support those who need extra help for employment, providing training and employability support and they divert tons of materials from landfill. They also work in partnership with other local charities to help the most vulnerable people in their community through their House to Home programme.
There are now eight ReStores across Ireland, in Lisburn, Glasnevin (Dublin), Belfast, Ballymena, Drogheda, Lisnagelvin (Derry/Londonderry), Newry and Newtownards.
In this last year, ReStores across Ireland have helped 138,000 people access low-cost materials to improve their homes, supported 25 people into employment, provided a new home for 250 old kitchens through our Kitchen Rescue programme, and diverted over 1,600 tons of reusable material from landfill helping protect the environment.
Our Mission Committee are supporting ReStore this summer with a Coffee Morning and Handbag Sale to raise funds and awareness for the work of Habitat ReStore in our local communities.
So, if you can donate a handbag (there is a collection box in the foyer of the church which is open on Wednesday and Sunday mornings) or come along on Saturday 1st August between 10.30am and 12 noon for coffee and purchase a new bag, your support will be greatly appreciated.
