Helping Others

Try Alpha

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes – you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation.

The young adults of Groomsport Presbyterian meet the second, third, and fourth Sundays of the month at 2:00 – 4:00 pm to hang out, play games, and work through a video series called ‘Youth Alpha’ as we talk about the big questions of life and faith. All are welcome!

Sadly Sunday School and Bible Class are not running at the moment due to Covid restrictions.
We hope that later in the year there will be an easing of the restrictions and we can meet up again on a Sunday morning.

Sunday School

When: Sunday 10.15am – 11.10am.
Where: Walter Nelson Halls Complex.

Our Sunday School is open to all 3 -11 year olds.

Our Sunday School programme is planned and prepared by a dedicated team of Sunday School teachers. The programme is designed to engage the children in a wide variety of age-appropriate activities to enable them to enjoy and learn the story of faith in a fun, friendly, creative and stimulating environment. We meet together in the Archie Agnew Hall for a time of worship, when we enjoy singing action songs and pray together. Each week we hear a story from the Bible and enjoy games, crafts, cooking, colouring and puzzle activities.

Bible Class

When: Sunday 10.15am  – 11.10am.
Where: Lighthouse Coffee Bar

The young people aged 11+ meet and enjoy tea, coffee and the occasional biscuit before they begin a time of learning. During this time they explore Bible teachings and its relevance in their everyday lives as they grow and mature in faith.

There is a specially equipped room behind the church where parents can take their younger children during the service.  Video Link of the service is available.

Children’s Church

When: Sunday – after the Children’s address until 12.30pm all year round.
Where: Edgar McCutcheon Hall

Children are encouraged to participate in morning worship.  A section of the service each week is specifically geared for the needs of younger members to give them an opportunity to engage in worship. After which they can leave the service to go upstairs and enjoy a snack followed by age-appropriate Bible teaching and related activities.  Children’s Church is assisted by young leaders, on a rota basis throughout the year.
